During his early days Vijay wanted to play class-romantic films and things got changed after Thirumalai, Ghilli and Thiruppachi, now the actor is one of the most wanted mass heroes in Tamil cinema.
Though Thirumalai and Ghilli are Vijay’s initial mass hit films, it was Thirupachi which took him to the B and C center audience, especially with the trademark 5 songs, punch dialogues and action scenes.
Recently, Perarasu who directed Vijay’s Thiruppachi and Sivakasi has said that ” Young heroes and new comers should not include build-up / self praising songs like the one which is used in Rajini/Ajith/Vijay movies as it will irk the film viewers, a hero should add such mass ingredients in a progressive fashion”.
Perarasu also recalled that when they shot “Nee Entha Ooru’ song in Thiruppachi, Vijay saw the rush and expressed his reluctance in doing such a mass song. Vijay told me that, the song looks little exaggerated but I convinced him to do the same”.
Perararsu has concluded by saying even top heroes like Vijay are reluctant in incorporating mass build-up songs, hence new comers should learn from them “
Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Pongal release Jilla, is nearing the elusive 100 days milestone. The movie is still listed at Baby Albert and the small screen at PVR, with a show each. The 100 days mark will be breached next week on April 19th.
Before that, Vijay fans have another reason to rejoice as the official verified FB page of the movie has crossed the magical 1 million likes mark. The page is still very active with close to 2 lakh people talking about the page. Just goes to show the kind of following that Vijay continues to command among the youth, despite being in the industry for more than 2 decades
Vijay’s next film, Kaththi, is already among the few most expected flicks coming out of K-Town this year.
Earlier there were rumours that the Ilayathalapathy Vijay – AR Murugadoss project, Kaththi, jointly produced by Ayngaran International and Lyca Productions, will face problems due to the alleged association of the movie’s producers with the Sri Lankan government.
Rubbishing all such rumours, Ayngaran International’s Karunamoorthi said, “Ayngaran has been in the industry for a long time – we have distributed around 2000 movies in foreign lands. And, in regard to Kaththi, Lyca Productions is supporting us financially. That’s it. All the rumours circulating that we are working alongside the Lankan government are entirely false and baseless.”
Regarding the movie, he said, “Ilayathalapathy Vijay plays double role in the movie. 40% of the shoot is completed, and the movie will be out by Diwali.”
